Elbe Germanic peoples
The Elbe Germanic peoples are a group of early Germanic peoples defined by archaeologists and historians in the Elbe basin, broadly matching the Irminones of Roman writers. They included Suebian peoples such as the Semnones, Hermunduri and Marcomanni. Migrating south and west, some of them formed the Alemanni and later the Bavarians and Lombards.
