Emirate of Córdoba

The Emirate of Córdoba was the Muslim state in Iberia founded in 756 by Abd al-Rahman I, a survivor of the Umayyad dynasty after its overthrow by the Abbasids. It preserved Umayyad rule in al-Andalus and was proclaimed a caliphate in 929, continuing the legacy of the Umayyad Caliphate.
