Person
Ermanaric
Ermanaric was a king of the Greuthungi Goths in the 4th century, ruling lands north of the Black Sea. Ammianus Marcellinus describes him as a warlike king who took his own life when the Huns attacked around 375, while Jordanes later credited him with a vast realm. He became a figure of Germanic heroic legend, appearing as Eormanric in Old English and Jörmunrekkr in Norse poetry.
