Ernest Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld
Ernest Frederick was Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld from 1764 until his death in 1800. His small duchy was so heavily in debt that an imperial debt commission supervised its finances during much of his reign. His son Francis succeeded him, and through Francis's children the house of Saxe-Coburg later supplied a king of the Belgians and the husband of Queen Victoria.
