Coburg
Coburg is a town in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany, dominated by the fortress of Veste Coburg, where Martin Luther stayed in 1530. It was the residence of the Ernestine dukes of Saxe-Coburg and later of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, whose family supplied monarchs to Belgium, Britain, Portugal and Bulgaria. After a referendum in 1920 Coburg joined Bavaria rather than Thuringia.
