Esegel
The Esegel were a Turkic tribe of the early medieval steppe, named in Arab, Persian and Turkic sources, who took part in the formation of Volga Bulgaria alongside the Bulgars proper and the Suvar. Ibn Fadlan, who visited the Volga in 922, records a ruler of the Askal as a subordinate of the Bulgar king Almish. They were later absorbed into the Bulgar population.
