Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo

Also known as Chan Santa Cruz

Felipe Carrillo Puerto is a town in Quintana Roo, Mexico, in the centre of the Yucatán Peninsula. Founded in 1850 as Chan Santa Cruz around a shrine of the Talking Cross, it was the capital of the rebel Maya during the Caste War of Yucatán until Mexican troops took it in 1901. It was later renamed after Felipe Carrillo Puerto, the socialist governor of Yucatán.
