François-Xavier Donzelot

1764–1843 · 19th century

François-Xavier Donzelot was a French general of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He served in Bonaparte's Egyptian campaign and from 1807 governed the Ionian Islands, holding Corfu under British blockade after Britain took most of the other islands in 1809–1810. He surrendered Corfu only in 1814 after Napoleon's abdication, and in 1815 commanded a division at Waterloo.
