Battle of Waterloo

Also known as Waterloo · Part of the Napoleonic Wars

The Battle of Waterloo was fought in June 1815 in present-day Belgium, where an Anglo-allied army under the Duke of Wellington and a Prussian army under Blücher defeated Napoleon. It ended the Napoleonic Wars. The victory opened a century of British pre-eminence in which the British Empire reached its zenith.
