Frankenthal

Frankenthal is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, between Worms and Ludwigshafen. In 1562 Elector Frederick III settled Calvinist refugees from the Netherlands there, and their community of Flemish and Walloon craftsmen made it a centre of tapestry weaving and, later, of a celebrated porcelain manufactory (1755–1800). It was fortified as part of the Electoral Palatinate's defences in the early seventeenth century.
