Frederick Augustus, Duke of Nassau

1738–1816 · 18th century

Frederick Augustus was prince of Nassau-Usingen from 1803 and, when it united with Nassau-Weilburg in 1806, the first duke of Nassau within Napoleon's Confederation of the Rhine. He shared government with his cousin Frederick William of Nassau-Weilburg, and the duchy kept its gains when it changed sides in 1813. When he died without surviving sons in 1816 the Usingen line ended, and Nassau passed to the Weilburg line.
