Galdan Tseren
Galdan Tseren was ruler of the Dzungar Khanate from 1727 to 1745, the son and successor of Tsewang Rabtan. He fought the Qing for Mongolia, destroying a Qing army at Hoton Nor in 1731 before being defeated near Erdene Zuu in 1732, and a peace in 1739 fixed the frontier. He also campaigned against the Kazakhs. His death in 1745 was followed by succession struggles that destroyed the khanate within a decade.
