Person
Gallienus
Gallienus was Roman emperor from 253 to 268, first with his father Valerian and alone after Valerian's capture by the Persians in 260. His reign saw the worst of the 3rd-century crisis: the Gallic and Palmyrene regions broke away, and Alemanni, Goths and others invaded. He defeated the Alemanni near Milan, reorganised the cavalry, and was murdered by his officers in 268.
