Gallo language
Gallo is a Romance language of the langue d'oïl group, spoken in eastern Brittany around Rennes, Saint-Malo and Nantes. For centuries it was the everyday speech of Upper Brittany, while Breton, a Celtic language, prevailed in the west. Now spoken mainly by older people in the countryside, it is recognised by the region of Brittany as one of its languages.
