Gangotri

Gangotri is a town and Hindu pilgrimage site in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India, high in the Himalaya on the Bhagirathi, the headstream of the Ganges. Its temple to the goddess Ganga is one of the four sites of the Char Dham pilgrimage, together with Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. The Gangotri Glacier, the river's source, lies upstream at Gaumukh.
