Badrinath is a Hindu pilgrimage town in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India, high in the Garhwal Himalaya on the Alaknanda river. Its temple of Vishnu as Badrinarayan is one of the four Char Dham sites and is traditionally linked with Adi Shankara. The temple is open only from spring to autumn because of heavy snow.
