Generalkommissariat Lettland
The Generalkommissariat Lettland was the German civil administration of occupied Latvia during the Second World War, part of the Reichskommissariat Ostland. Headed by Generalkommissar Otto-Heinrich Drechsler from Riga, it ruled through German officials with a Latvian self-administration under its control. Under its rule most of Latvia's Jews were murdered, and Latvian men were conscripted into German forces before the Soviet reconquest of 1944 and 1945.
