Geneva Accords (1954)
The Geneva Accords were the agreements concluded at the Geneva Conference in July 1954 that ended the First Indochina War. They provided for a ceasefire, recognised the independence of Laos and Cambodia, and temporarily divided Vietnam at the 17th parallel between the Viet Minh in the north and the State of Vietnam in the south, pending elections in 1956 that were never held.
