1488–1531 · 16th century · Also known as Bauernjörg, Georg III, Truchsess von Waldburg

Georg III, Truchsess von Waldburg, known as Bauernjörg, was a Swabian noble who commanded the army of the Swabian League in the German Peasants' War of 1525. His victories at Leipheim, Böblingen and Königshofen crushed the peasant armies of Swabia and Franconia and earned him his nickname. He later served the Habsburgs as governor of Württemberg.
