Gerald the Fearless (Geraldo Sem Pavor) was a Portuguese warrior who seized several Muslim towns for Afonso I of Portugal through night-time surprise attacks. In 1165 he took Évora, and he went on to capture Trujillo, Cáceres and other places, but failed to hold Badajoz in 1169. He later entered the service of the Almohads and was put to death by them in Morocco around 1173.
