Badajoz

Badajoz is a city in western Spain, near the border with Portugal. In the eleventh century it was the capital of a Muslim taifa kingdom. The Almoravid victory over Alfonso VI at the Battle of Sagrajas in 1086 took place near Badajoz, beginning Almoravid domination of al-Andalus.
