Gjakova
Gjakova, in Serbian Đakovica, is a city in western Kosovo, in the Metohija plain near the Albanian border. It grew in the Ottoman period around a market and the Hadum Mosque. Montenegro took it in the First Balkan War of 1912–1913, and it later became part of Yugoslavia. Its population is mainly Albanian, and its old bazaar was badly damaged in the Kosovo War of 1999.
