Glendalough
Glendalough is a glacial valley in the Wicklow Mountains of eastern Ireland, the site of an early medieval monastery founded by St Kevin in the 6th century. It became one of Ireland's leading monastic centres and places of pilgrimage, and its round tower, cathedral, churches and crosses survive. The monastery was raided by Vikings several times, and in 1214 its diocese was merged with Dublin.
