Golden Man

Also known as Issyk Golden Man

The Golden Man is the burial of a richly dressed Saka person found in the Issyk kurgan near Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 1969–1970. The clothing and tall pointed headdress were covered with about 4,000 gold ornaments in the animal style, and a silver bowl in the grave bears a short, still undeciphered inscription. A reconstruction stands on the Independence Monument in Almaty as a national symbol.
