1594–1655 · 17th century · Also known as Tüsheet Khan Gombodorj

Gombodorj was Tüsheet Khan, ruler of central Khalkha Mongolia, in the first half of the 17th century, a grandson of Abtai Sain Khan. He is best known as the father of Zanabazar, whom the Khalkha nobility recognised as a reincarnate lama in 1639 and who became the first Jebtsundamba Khutughtu, and of Chakhundorj, who succeeded him as Tüsheet Khan. His reign saw the Khalkha drawn into relations with the rising Manchu state.
