Dayan Khan

c. 1464–1517 · 15th century · Also known as Batu Möngke

Dayan Khan, Batu Möngke, was a Borjigin khan of the Northern Yuan who reunited the eastern Mongols in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, with the help of his queen Mandukhai. He defeated the Oirats and rebellious chiefs and divided the Mongols into six tümen ruled by his sons. His descendants founded the later Khalkha khanates and the Tümed realm of Altan Khan.
