Northern Yuan
The Northern Yuan was the regime maintained by the Mongol imperial line on the Mongolian steppe after the Yuan Dynasty lost China. The last Yuan emperor, Toghon Temur, fled Dadu in 1368 as Ming forces approached. His successors continued to claim the Yuan title in a diminished form, and accounts of the Yuan Dynasty date its continued existence to the early fifteenth century.
