Govindachandra (Chandra dynasty)

11th century · 11th century

Govindachandra was the last notable king of the Chandra dynasty of eastern Bengal in the early 11th century. Inscriptions of the Chola king Rajendra I record that his northern expedition of around 1021–1024 defeated Govindachandra of Vangala on its march to the Ganges. The Chandra line ended soon after, and the Varman dynasty succeeded in eastern Bengal.
