Guanaja
Guanaja is the easternmost of the main Bay Islands of Honduras, in the western Caribbean. Christopher Columbus landed there in 1502 on his fourth voyage and met a large Maya trading canoe nearby. Settled by English-speaking islanders from the 19th century, it became part of Honduras in 1860, and much of it was devastated by Hurricane Mitch in 1998.
