Guantánamo Bay Naval Base

Guantánamo Bay Naval Base is a United States naval base on Guantánamo Bay in south-eastern Cuba, leased under an agreement of 1903 that followed the Platt Amendment. A treaty of 1934 made the lease permanent unless both parties agree to end it, and the Cuban government has rejected it since 1959. Since 2002 the base has held a detention camp for prisoners captured in the 'war on terror'.
