Guiengola
Guiengola is a fortified Zapotec hilltop site near Tehuantepec in Oaxaca, Mexico, with temples, palaces, a ball court and long defensive walls. In the late 1490s the Zapotec king Cocijoeza withstood a long siege there by the armies of the Aztec ruler Ahuitzotl. The war ended in a negotiated peace, traditionally sealed by Cocijoeza's marriage to an Aztec princess.
