Guntur
Guntur is a city in Andhra Pradesh, India, in the fertile plain south of the Krishna river delta. The surrounding region, known in the Middle Ages as Velanadu, was ruled by the Velanati Chodas and later by the Kakatiyas, the Vijayanagara Empire and the Qutb Shahis. Under the British it was the centre of a district, and it is now a major market for chillies, tobacco and cotton.
