Gurjars
The Gurjars are a community of north-western India and Pakistan, historically pastoralists and farmers, whose name appears in sources from the sixth century CE. The Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty and the region of Gujarat take their names from them, and Arab writers called the Pratihara kingdom Juzr. Their origins are debated, with theories ranging from Central Asian migrants to indigenous Indian groups.
