Bundelas
The Bundelas are a Rajput clan of central India who gave their name to Bundelkhand. Rising in the 16th century under Rudra Pratap Singh, who founded Orchha in 1531, they built kingdoms that alternately served and resisted the Mughals, and Chhatrasal of Panna won independence for much of the region in the late 17th century. Their many princely states survived under British paramountcy until after Indian independence.
