Haiphong
Haiphong is a port city in northern Vietnam, on the Red River delta near the Gulf of Tonkin, and one of the country's largest cities. Developed by the French as the port of Tonkin, it was shelled by the French navy in November 1946, an event that helped start the First Indochina War. During the Vietnam War its harbour was bombed and mined by the United States in 1972.
