Halberstadt

Halberstadt is a town north of the Harz in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Made a bishopric around 804 under Charlemagne, it was ruled by prince-bishops until the Peace of Westphalia gave it to Brandenburg in 1648. Its Gothic cathedral holds one of the richest church treasuries in Europe.
