Harem conspiracy

c. 1153 BCE · 12th century BCE · Also known as harem conspirators

The Harem conspiracy was a plot within the royal household against Pharaoh Ramesses III of Egypt around 1153 BCE. Records of the trial of the conspirators survive, and forensic study of his mummy indicates that he was killed. His death was followed by a series of weaker rulers, part of the decline of the Egyptian New Kingdom.
