Judicial Papyrus of Turin

12th century BCE · 12th century BCE

The Judicial Papyrus of Turin is an Egyptian papyrus of the twelfth century BCE recording the trials of those accused in the harem conspiracy against Ramesses III. It lists dozens of defendants, including a royal son, women of the harem, officials and guards, with the sentences imposed, among them death and forced suicide. Together with other trial papyri and the examination of the king's mummy, it shows that Ramesses III was murdered.
