Henry III of England
Henry III was king of England from 1216, succeeding his father John as a nine-year-old. He took the earldom of Chester into royal hands in 1237 and, in the Treaty of Montgomery of 1267, recognised Llywelyn ap Gruffudd as Prince of Wales. His reign saw the baronial reform movement and the war led by Simon de Montfort, defeated at Evesham in 1265, as well as the rebuilding of Westminster Abbey.
