Hérault (river)

The Hérault is a river in southern France, about 150 kilometres long, rising in the Cévennes and flowing south past Ganges and Pézenas to the Mediterranean at Agde, a Greek foundation near its mouth. In antiquity it roughly marked the boundary between the Elisyces of the Narbonne region and the Volcae Arecomici to the east. The department of Hérault is named after it.
