Person
Hilda Kuper
Hilda Kuper was a social anthropologist born in Southern Rhodesia who spent much of her career studying the Swazi. Her books, including An African Aristocracy (1947), on rank and ritual in the kingdom, and a biography of Sobhuza II, remain the classic accounts of Swazi institutions such as the Incwala ceremony and the age-regiments. She later taught at the University of California, Los Angeles.
