Hispano-Moroccan War (1859–1860)
The Hispano-Moroccan War was fought between Spain and Morocco from October 1859 to April 1860, after attacks on the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. A Spanish army under Leopoldo O'Donnell took Tetouan in February 1860 and won at Wad Ras in March. The Treaty of Wad Ras enlarged Ceuta, imposed an indemnity and promised Spain a coastal territory later identified as Ifni.
