Hittite sack of Babylon

c. 1595 BCE · 16th century BCE

The Hittite sack of Babylon was a raid on Babylon led by the Hittite king Mursili I around 1595 BCE. It ended the First Dynasty of Babylon, the line of Hammurabi. The Hittites did not hold the city, and Kassite rulers later took power, marking the end of the Old Babylonian Empire.
