Hoàng Hoa Thám

1858–1913 · 19th century · Also known as De Tham, Đề Thám, Hoang Hoa Tham

Hoàng Hoa Thám, known as De Tham, was a Vietnamese resistance leader who held out against the French for almost three decades in the hills of Yên Thế in northern Vietnam. After intermittent fighting and truces with the colonial authorities, he was killed in 1913, and his long guerrilla war made him a hero of Vietnamese anti-colonial resistance.
