House of Armagnac
The House of Armagnac was a noble family of Gascony, counts of Armagnac from the 10th century and of Rodez from 1302. Count Bernard VII led the Armagnac party in the French civil war against the Burgundians until his murder in 1418. A cadet branch, the dukes of Nemours, also held La Marche until Louis XI had Jacques d'Armagnac executed in 1477, and the main line ended in 1497.
