House of Auersperg

Also known as Auersperg family

The House of Auersperg is an Austrian noble family originating in Carniola, at the castle of Auersperg (Turjak) in present-day Slovenia. Its members served the Habsburgs as soldiers and statesmen, and in 1653 the line of Johann Weikhard von Auersperg was raised to princely rank. In 1654 the family received the Silesian Duchy of Münsterberg. Later members included the Austrian prime ministers Karl and Adolf von Auersperg.
