House of Dadiani

13th century–1867 · 13th century · Also known as Dadiani of Mingrelia

The House of Dadiani was the Georgian princely family that ruled Mingrelia in western Georgia. Nominal vassals of the kings of Imereti, they were often stronger than their overlords and dominated neighbours such as Abkhazia and Svaneti. Mingrelia accepted Russian protection in 1803, and the Russian Empire abolished the principality in 1867.
