House of Dampierre

The House of Dampierre was a French noble family from Dampierre in Champagne. William of Dampierre married Margaret, heiress of Flanders, and their son Guy of Dampierre bought Namur in 1263 and became Count of Flanders in 1278. The Flemish line passed by the marriage of Margaret III to Philip the Bold of Burgundy in 1369, while the Namur line sold its county to Philip the Good in 1421 and ended in 1429.
