Ibn Tafrakin
Ibn Tafrakin was a chamberlain, or hajib, of the Hafsid sultanate and the dominant figure in Tunis in the mid-fourteenth century. After the Marinid occupation of Tunis ended, he governed in the name of the young sultan Abu Ishaq II, whom he had placed on the throne, until his own death in 1364. In 1352 he briefly employed the young Ibn Khaldun as a secretary at the Hafsid court.
