Intemelii
The Intemelii were a Ligurian people of the western Riviera, on the modern border between France and Italy. Their chief town, Albintimilium, is modern Ventimiglia, whose name preserves theirs. They came under Roman control in the 2nd century BCE, and the Alpine peoples of the region were finally subdued under Augustus, whose trophy at La Turbie celebrated the conquest.
